DANX opens new Baltic terminal to provide faster deliveries and more sustainable time-critical operations
New Latvia
terminal vastly increases DANX handling capacity while delivering on
sustainability ambitions
Riga, Latvia,
Date:
DANX has begun operations at its new 600 sq-metre Baltics terminal based in Latvia,
in a move made to increase freight handling capacity, facilitate earlier
delivery times, and reduce CO2 emissions.
Relocating the
facility to the outskirts of Riga, Latvia, DANX has also increased its
operational capacity six-fold and improved its speed of access to the rest of
Latvia, Lithuania, and Estonia.
“Demand for
time-critical deliveries from the agricultural and automotive sectors across
the Baltics has been growing for some time and we anticipate this will continue,”
said Christian Steengaard, Baltics & Poland Managing Director, DANX.
“DANX’s new
facility exemplifies its commitment to the region as we continue to improve the
speed, accuracy, and reliability of both our By:NIGHT and By:DAY services.
“This
investment is also a tangible reflection of DANX’s drive towards a sustainable
logistics landscape.”
The new
location has both removed truck driven CO2 emissions from the centre of Riga and
improved access to the Baltic republics, cutting thirty minutes from final-mile
deliveries on average.
“We remain
vigilant for further opportunities for improvements and have the potential to
expand this new site by a further 1500 sq-metres as demand dictates,” added
Steengaard.
The facility has an A+ Energy Performance Certificate and offers quick loading and unloading times and is equipped with solar panel roofing and LED lighting throughout.
